Are queer people really choosing to be queer for attention or simply brazening out their situation by making use of the attention they receive. A suspect the vast majority of trans people are more than willing to live their live without the slightest attention (I know I am) but there those who have no choice in the matter. Given that many have 'targets painted on their backs' is it any wonder that they use attention to survive and thrive.

I personally don't crave attention for being trans but there are times and situations where it can't be avoided. As I said in my article 'How many times do I have to come out as trans' https://msfayebaker.medium.com/he-she-or-it-you-decide-de8ca466ce11

I could make a career out of being trans, opening myself to constant attack and criticism, or I can blend in to the background. Blending in is a much easier stance but some people don't have the choice. Is being brave and outspoken the same as attention seeking?
