I would imagine after 50 years of intense nuclear research, if they haven’t sorted out the problems with Thorium by now, they never will. It’s a bit like nuclear fission research; the solution is always just around the corner.

Better to develop known renewables than spend endless amounts trying to make thorium reactors work at scale.
