Sadly the rich worked out long ago that a population enabled and united against them would be a threat, so they have systematically undermined and destroyed all of the possible paths to revolution. One such tactic is to give a large share of the people just enough wealth to make them feel they are part of the rich society. It is a joke to the really rich with millions and billions in their hidden bank accounts but they know it is enough to keep the voters quiet.

When protests start getting too close for comfort, such as with the climate crisis protestors, they move in a whole raft of laws to criminalise them and squash any uprising.

When people start talking about revolution, they are quick to get the media to call them terrorists and get them banned. And the rich own the media, so it happens regularly and without opposition.

The situation in Russia shows quite clearly how a totalitarian regime can clamp down on any dissent, even while still showing a facade of freedom and fairness on the TV. Propaganda and lies are not just the tools of the extreme right or left. It is everyday tactics for the UK government and many other right wing 'democratic' parties.

The rich are in control of the government and plan to stay there indefinitely, even to the point of bring armed forces onto the streets to keep them in power.
