Sadly, your last part is more true than you would like to imagine. Hyper-rich people usually become rich out of sheer greed and selfishness, which means excluding anyone else from their existance as much as possible. Thier end game is to isolate themselves in a secure enclave until the rest of humanity has destroyed itself through war, famine and the desparate need to survive the climate crisis. Once those pesky unwanted mumans are out of the way the rich will emerge with their army of robots to take over the world. Ironically, they will probably fight each other to be the ultimate rich person until all their resources are exhausted.

Yes, it's a very dark and pessimistic prediction but I don't see anything happening with the rich to deny it. Armageddon is coming and they are preparing to survive it, not prevent it.
