TBH Umair, it's about time that Twitter collapsed and died. It has caught that dreaded disease of being infested with the most negative aspects of humanity. The haters, the misogynists, the bullies, the conceited and sociopathic narcissists. The rot started when 'celebrities' started using it for self-promotion. Their vacuous inanities acted like a sponge soaking up all the other evils and presenting them as harmless tosh.

People turned a blind eye to this bile and drivel while it was seen as innocuous and puerile. But when Trump and others in politics started using it as a platform to spread their lies and ideology, that's when the real rot set in. Now Twitter has become this snarling howling cesspit of hate and disinformation, so no wonder people are leaving it in droves.

I suspect that most users are still on there only because they want access to it when necessary. For example to refute lies or prevent gas-lighting. Much like being on FB these days, people are just holding on to their profiles to show they are still alive. Celebrities will need to keep their sanctioned Twitter handles just to prevent fake accounts claiming to be them.
