The global economy appears to be built on a house of cards held together by greed and consumption. Now we are reaching the point where there is no more to be gained without destroying other parts of the planet, that house is beginning to collapse. I suspect that the ultra-rich and the financial institutions that enable them have realised this outcome. So they can either prop up the current economic model, based on democracy and fiscal rules, or change direction. Judging by the speaches made at the UK Conservative party conference, they have chosen to change direction.

The direction they have chosen is to flip into ultra-right wing liberarianism and become Vikings. That is they intend to slash and burn infrastructure while stealing, killing and raping the land. it is a direction that greatly benefits the already wealthy while desptroying the lives of the poor.

However, the Conservative have never liked the poor and will be glad to be rid of them. Recently, the Guardian published an article showing how many extra deaths were caused through the austerity measures of the last decade (https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/oct/05/over-330000-excess-deaths-in-great-britain-linked-to-austerity-finds-study#:~:text=Austerity%20may%20have%20caused%20an,Britain%20between%202012%20and%202019 )

This gives you an idea of how they intend to remove the poorest in society, only now they are doubling down. I recently wrote an article here on Medium about where the Conservatives are going (Conservatives: End Game). Things are going to get bad in the UK but I have a feeling we will only be leading the charge down to global dystopia.
