The laws of improbability

Or why the toast falls butter side down.

We are all conditioned to believe that probability rules the universe. Nearly all of statistics is based on it. Even quantum mechanics relies on it, but what if we are wrong and it is improbability that we should be measuring. Maybe Douglas Adams got it right (see Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy, Heart of Gold).
