The only problem with the idea of eco-terrorism is that the fossil fuel industry has been aware of this possibility for decades. This is why the fossil fuel lobby in the US is so strong and why they have been busy buying politicians around the world. But that is just one strand of their defence. They have also used their economic muscle to integrate themselves into every aspect of life, even in producing fertilisers. Its difficult for a terrorist organisation to strike effectively at a multiheaded Hydra (yes just think of the fossil industry as being the Hydra organisation in the Avengers movies. With their slogan of "Cut off one head, two more shall take its place! Hail Hydra!").

Any terrorist style organisation would, at every turn, be prevented from succeeding, either directly or by infiltration. Added to which is a global media propaganda machine that will instantly portray any terrorist action as a crime against humanity. This will guarantee that any members or associates are hunted down and eliminated.

Finally they will use fear as their weapon of choice. They will make it apparent that any attempt to disrupt the status quo will result in loss of jobs, loss of security and loss of luxury (or even loss of essentials).

With this kind of protection, no terrorist is going to get close enough to cause any significant damage.
